My name is Jake Swapp.  I got my nick name Topaz Raider while scouting for gems in the Thomas Range (Utah) with my cousin.  I created the Terra Incognita Forum as a basic blog to share my writings.  I chose the name of this blog to inspire thinking beyond what is known. While my main focus will be outdoor related, no topic is off limits.  I plan on posting reviews of outdoor products that I use.  One day I hope to have others write about topics of their own choosing.  

   I enjoy basically all outdoor activities.  I especially enjoy mountaineering.  I live in Utah and find some of my  favorite places are the Lone Peak Wilderness and the High Uintas Wilderness. I also love the deserts of Utah.  They are rich in minerals and out of this world scenery.  I have recently been expanding my interest in astronomy.
